An alternate ending to the Clannad series, where Tomoya has chosen Tomoyo… The pair have been going out for a while, which has caused quite a stir in the school. Tomoyo has been elected Student Council President, allowing her to fulfill her dream for preserving the school’s cherry blossom trees. However bad rumors begin to spread about the couple and Tomoya begins to feel like he’s a nuisance to Tomoyo. from ANN

Although I understand why Key and KyoAni choses the Nagisa route for Clannad The Anime, as the central theme is  of family connection, my heart still yearns for Tomoyo X Tomoya.  As such I really enjoyed this extra chapter. As opposed to Tomoya relationship with Nagisa, which somehow felt a bit stilted, his relationship with Tomoyo here feel very natural.  I wonder how the series would’ve turn out if Key and KyoAni had chosen the Tomoyo route?  Fingers cross, hoping they’ll do The Tomoyo After story next.

The annual KOMAS FreedomFilmFest (FFF2008) is back. Now in its fifth year, this year’s theme: “Democratic Space - Making Room for Human Rights” is definitely apt given our turbulent post March 8 political scenario. FFF has always been an avenue for local social activists to express their thoughts and concerns on (lack of) human rights issues and other social concerns afflicting Malaysia, so expect a very thought provoking atmosphere; and be prepared to be challenged.  It may even change the way you think, for better or for worse, but that’s your freedom of choice.

Watch over 20 films from all over the world, and also do not miss the chance to mingle and ask questions from some of the participating filmmakers such as Singaporean Seelan Palay, Indonesian Ariani Darmawan, and Malaysian Chi Too.

FFF2008 will be held at the following venues:

Johor Bahru - Tropical Inn: 12 - 14 September
Kuching - Old Court House: 19 - 21 September

Events line up for the day includes The Malaysian Mini-Bike Championship, the 1st Cyberjaya Beach Ball Tournament (mommies, fret not… there won’t be a bikini category), Street Soccer and the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.

Too sporty for you? Then try the family games, which include Treasure Hunt, Hamburger/Pie Eating Contest, Water Fights for Kids, Mechanic Bull Ride, among others. There’s also the Beauty Car @ Auto Salon show, which is a must-attend for car enthusiast.

But the main highlight of the day definitely has to be the Merdeka Concert. With big names like Ning Baizura, Adam, Daffi, Fazli Zainal, Sharifah Zarina, Nikki, Sofaz, Meet Uncle Hussein, Estranged, plus the ever so chirpy Suria FM announcers, you cannot give this a miss. The Carnival will end with a firework display over Tasik Cyberjaya.

An historical rhetoric about court life during the Malacca Sultanate era when the young Sultan Alauddin Shah was poisoned, this is a heavily political stage play, which is definitely a rarity in the Malaysian theatre scene. So, try not to miss this.
